Frequently Asked Questions

Can the non-carbon side of the Carbon Clean microfiber cloth be used to clean lenses?

**Yes, the non-carbon fabric is a standard polyester microfiber, just don't use the portion with the printing on it.

Can the Carbon Clean microfiber cloth be washed?

It is not recommended. Things like fabric softener will be adsorbed into the fabric as a contaminate thereby reducing it's effectiveness. Due to the adsorption process, washing will not greatly improve the performance of the material.

**The Carbon Clean can be hand washed in clear water to remove dust buildup.

Is the Carbon Clean microfiber cloth dust/lint/contaminate free?

**Yes. And with some care it will remain that way. Always use the provided plastic case for storage. Brush off loose debris on the surface to be cleaned prior to using the Carbon Clean microfiber cloth.

Does the Carbon Clean microfiber cloth wear out?

**Yes. Due to the adsorbtion process the cloth will eventually become clogged with contaminants which cannot be removed. At this point the cloth will need to be replaced.

After extensive use the carbon fibers will eventually begin to break down. Hard use and hard creases folded into the fabric will accelerate this. When the fibers begin to break down the cloth may start to leave carbon dust on the surface being cleaned. Because the dust is electrically neutral it is easily blown or brushed off. You can use the reverse side of the cloth to remove any carbon dust left behind. If it becomes problematic the cloth can be washed.
